The Deacon Board has decided to modify the Mask Policy, and allow any person with a medical reason, that they can not wear a mask or shield to attend our Sunday services. These persons will be asked to use the rear left-side pews in the old Sanctuary during the Habitation service and the far left pews in the new sanctuary during the Traditional service. The Deacon board will continue to monitor COVID-19 and any outbreaks may cause this modification to be rescinded. The Deacon board requests that all others continue to wear their mask and practice the current distancing advice from CDC.
Updated Mandatory Mask / Shield Policy
Effective beginning Sunday, January 17, 2021
As a Christian expression of care and concern for those among us who are the most vulnerable to COVID-19, your MVBC Deacons have decided to tighten our church’s precautions to prevent the spread of the disease. Specifically, all persons who wish to enter the church for any reason, will be required to PROPERLY wear a face mask or face shield, always, while in the church building. If you are wearing a mask, it should cover your chin and nose, and always fit snugly around your face.
The only exceptions to this rule would be for the pastor and other persons making presentations to the congregation, while maintaining a safe distance from the congregation.
While we realize there is some debate about the effectiveness of face mask and shields, the deacons believe that wearing them is nonetheless the prudent thing to do in the interest of protecting the congregation, particularly the elderly and those who may have medical conditions or weakened immune systems, making them more susceptible to severe and even deadly consequences of the disease.
Members who either cannot, or prefer not to, wear the face coverings are asked to please stay at home and participate in the life of our church through the live streaming services now being offered and shortly to be improved upon.
This Mandatory Face Mask / Face Shield Policy is to be effective beginning, Sunday, the 17, 2021 and will continue until further notice. This policy will be strictly enforced, and no one will be allowed to enter the church without a face mask or face shield.
The Deacons, Pastor, and other church leaders will continue to monitor the pandemic, looking forward to the time when we all may meet again in congregational worship on a regular basis.
In the meantime, may we all remain faithful to our Lord, the Great Physician, who will deliver us through these trying times.
If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to this policy, please address them to the Deacon Board in writing via mail or email.
