Anyone connected with MT.VERNON BAPTIST CHURCH… Friends, members, non-members – We have another great two-day opportunity to include you in our new Pictorial Directory for the church…this is very important and you are very important to us. You can easily schedule your photo session on February 14 Tuesday or the 15th Wednesday from 2-9 pm either day. Your session will only take about 10 minutes, you have the option to see your pictures immediately and purchase some if you wish but you will also receive a free 8 x 10 and you will be in the New Directory. Please all new friends and those considering Mt.Vernon, have your pictures taken I ask.

Mount Vernon Baptist Church Welcomes Pastor Ron McClung

On October 2nd 2011 Pastor Ron preached his candidacy sermon for the position of Senior Pastor at Mount Vernon. During a business meeting following the service the congregation in attendence voted to call Pastor Ron as our Senior Pastor and extended the right hand of fellowship to he and his family.

Pastor Ron is the oldest of four boys. Their Father Harold still lives in Greenbrier County while his brothers live in Florida and NC. Ron and Sharon have three children and one grandson.

Pastor Ron loves sports including golf, tennis, and raquetball. He likes to read, watch movies and enjoys his children and grandson.

His greatest supporter has been Sharon, his wife of 28 years. She is a substitute teacher in Kanawha County schools and has a brother and father that are also pastors, who live in Uniontown, PA. She received her Bachelor’s Decree in Journalism at Mashall University. Sharon loves to sing with the praise team.

At the end of his sermon Pastor Ron left the congregation with this song which really struck a chord with those in attendance and many believe it sets the tone for the future of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Precepts Upon Precepts Bible Study

A 10-week Bible study title, “Precepts Upon Precepts” is underway on Monday evenings at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Sessions begin at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall.

The first sessions will be concentrated on the Book of Hebrews. Then, beginning Monday, October 3rd, classes will be from the Book of Zechariah with the theme, “They Shall be My People and I Will be Their God,” with the concluding session on Monday, November 14th.

Mount Vernon Baptist to Sponsor Work Day

Members and volunteers of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Rode, Hurricane, will join forces Saturday, July 30th, for a major clean-up of the grounds and parking areas.

Participants will be treated to a 8:00 am breakfast, and lunch at Noon.

Jr. High I at Camp Cowen

Just came back from an amazing week at Camp Cowen. The Holy Spirit was so strong at the camp this week. We saw 11 decisions for Christ and many many more re-dedications. It was truly a great week. It was my first time attending the camp and I was blessed to be a councilor as well as part of the praise band for the week. If you’ve never worked with Cowen or been there as a camper I’m here to tell you that it will change your life.

All praises to God for a week that I will never forget.

Kids, get ready for “Jammin’ in the Jungle,” this year’s theme for Vacation Bible School at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane.

Bible school activities will be conducted from 6 to 8 pm, beginning Sunday, June 26, and continuing through Thursday, June 30. Dinner each evening beginning at 5:15 pm will be prepared and served in the Fellowship Hall by members of Sunday School Classes.

The Bible school is for ages 2 years through sixth grade with infant care provided.

Ashley Slone, Bible school director, said, “We will have a different theme each night which will be announced in advance, and each evening the children will visit several ‘stations’ which include lessons, crafts, games, music, and snacks.”

Ms. Slone added, “The last evening we will have inflatables, cotton candy, and snow cones.”

Donations Needed for Camp Happy Valley

We will be collecting clothing and other items for CAMP HAPY VALLEY through May 31st.

A box has been placed in the Gym for these items which are needed and helpful:

Towels	Pencils	Underwear
Socks	Shirts	Bathing suits
Pillows	Play clothes	Sweaters (light)
Pajamas	Sheets	Jackets (light)
Pillow cases	Tennis shoes (all sizes)	Shower curtains
Jeans	Lice shampoo

Many of these children come only with the clothes on their backs. The ages of the children are 7-14. They come in all sizes, so any items will be appreciated. Additional items are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, soap, shampoo, wash cloths and deodorant.

Please do not send winter clothing or infant clothes. All items are to be clean and washed.
