Pastor David is a formerly retired pastor of 36 years, having served three churches in our state convention, Racine First, Cook Memorial in Pineville, and was the senior pastor of Oak Hill Baptist for 25 years. He and his wife Connie have been married for 50 years and have three grown children and three grandchildren. They reside in Cross Lanes.

Pastor David is a graduate of Georgetown College in Kentucky and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was ordained in 1971 in his home church of Judson Baptist in Belle, WV. During his years as pastor he also served as an adjunct professor for two community colleges and served many years as a teacher for the State Convention’s School of Christian Studies. He was a trustee at Alderson Broaddus University for six years. During his pastorate at Oak Hill Baptist he served on the Board of Directors of the State and Southern Fellowship of Christian Athletes for over 20 years.

Pastor David began serving Mount Vernon Baptist on a part time basis in June 2008 as director of our outreach and discipleship programs. His ministry includes teaching during the Sunday School hour a class on basic Christian doctrines and Baptist beliefs. He also serves as our AWANA pastor.
